Skin Needling

Skin Needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy is an exciting, innovative treatment that helps to improve skin texture, smooth wrinkles, and fine lines, and can also soften some types of scarring.

What is Skin Needling?

The concept of Skin Needling lends itself to the skin's natural ability to repair when it suffers physical damage such as cuts, burns, abrasions, and other injuries. Immediately after an injury to the skin, our body begins what is known as a 'natural wound healing response' triggering what is known as a cascade of healing processes.

It is scientifically proven that Skin Needling treatments initiate the wound healing process, releasing certain growth factors that result in healthy collagen and elastin synthesis. As a direct result, a stronger and healthier collagen and elastin network is created, and a thicker, healthier epidermis is formed, making this non-invasive procedure the ideal treatment for the overall improvement of our skin's health, and wellness, texture, and appearance.

What Skin Concerns benefit Skin Needling?

  • Tired, dull & lackluster skin
  • Fine lines
  • Enlarged pores
  • Some forms of acne scarring
  • Nasolabial lines and smoker's lines
  • Rejuvenation of hands, neck, and décolletage
  • Skin laxity
  • Stretchmarks

About The Procedure

A Skin Needling treatment involves a pen-like tool with a single-use, sterile cartridge embedded with tiny stainless steel needles gliding over the skin, causing 'micro-traumas''. This action launches the natural 'wound healing response,' stimulating the release of growth factors and the deposition of new collagen and elastin to rejuvenate the skin. The treatment is easily tolerated by most, with minimal to no downtime.

How Many Skin Needling Treatments Will I Need?

A minimum of 6 treatments, performed no further than ten days apart, is generally recommended to achieve the optimum rejuvenation of an area. At Noosa Skin Studio, we personalise all treatment plans according to your skin health and the area of concern to ensure you receive the best possible results. To maintain your results, we recommend that follow-up treatments of 1 – 2 needling sessions is performed every 4 - 6 months to boost long-term effects.

When Will I See The Results?

The result from your Skin Needling treatment will be apparent approximately 3 - 6 weeks after your final treatment, as your skin regenerates and continues to produce new collagen and elastin. Most clients report an improvement in their skin texture and clarity a few days after their first session, and this improvement continues to compound after each consecutive needling treatment.

Preparing For Your Skin Needling

Appropriate skin preparation is essential to achieve optimum results from your Skin Needling treatment. Clinical trials have proven that results are increased by 40% in skin that has been adequately prepared with effective levels of vitamins A and C levels for a minimum of 3 - 4 weeks before commencing your needling treatments. We recommend clients start preparations using Environ's Skin EssentiA Vita-Antioxidant AVST 1 Moisturiser morning and evening for at least 3 weeks prior to their first treatment.

At Noosa Skin Studio, we provide a personalised homecare program that will provide you with premium support during your course of Skin Needling treatments to deliver a synergistic combination of vitamins A, C, E, powerful antioxidants, peptides, and growth factors - to help ensure you achieve the best possible results from your course of treatments.

Post-Treatment Care

Following your skin needling treatment, your skin will experience a mild inflammatory reaction leaving your skin feeling warm and appearing flushed in a similar way to moderate sunburn; this is normal and generally subsides within 24 to 48 hours. It can also be normal for your skin to show signs of mild swelling and bruising. It will most likely feel tight and sensitive to the touch.

These symptoms are transient and may take up to 2-3 days to resolve completely - during this time, your recommended home care products will support your skin. It is essential to protect your skin from UV exposure following your Skin Needling Treatment - we advise our clients use the Dermaceutic Laboratorie K-Ceutic Post Treatment Cream SPF 50 post-treatment.

Makeup Post-Treatment

The makeup of choice recommended by Noosa Skin Studio following your skin needling treatment is jane iredale mineral makeup. Jane Iredale mineral makeup is formulated to support and assist the skin's natural healing process, containing non-comedogenic minerals that create a protective barrier while still allowing the skin to breathe and function normally. We do not advise the use of non-mineral make-up formulations until the skin is completely healed.

Lack of Permanent Result

Skin-needling will not entirely or permanently improve skin texture, tone, elasticity, hyperpigmentation, scars or completely eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. Your expectations must be realistic, and understand that the procedure has its limitations. A minimum of six treatments, performed no more than ten days apart supported by recommended home care, will ensure you achieve the best possible results. Additional procedures may be necessary to complete your desired effect.

Skin Needling VS Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Professional Skin Needling stimulates collagen and elastin production, as does laser resurfacing, but without the risk of injury or damage to the epidermis. Skin Needling is a much more economical and long-lasting treatment that works to rebuild beautiful, healthy skin.
